The position of city clerk and the position of city treasurer are combined under the single salary position of city clerk-treasurer effective June 1, 1975.

The city clerk-treasurer will continue under the same salary and compensation as has previously been paid to the city clerk unless and until otherwise changed by future ordinance.

The city clerk-treasurer shall perform all duties designated to be performed by the city clerk and/or the city treasurer as set forth in Title 35A of the Revised Code of Washington and shall also serve as the auditing officer for all purposes, including those enumerated in Chapter 42.24 of the Revised Code of Washington.

In addition to the duties described in other sections of this chapter, the city clerk is appointed to be the city's recipient of claims and lawsuits as follows:
All claims and lawsuits brought against the city and/or its past and present officers and employees shall be filed or served upon the appointed city clerk during normal business hours at his or her office.
The city clerk's office is located at Black Diamond City Hall, 25510 Lawson Street, Black Diamond, WA 98010.
No other person or staff is authorized to receive such claims or lawsuits on behalf of the city.
